Pacific Rim & Tofino, British Columbia

Rainforest, surf beaches and storm-watching on Vancouver Island’s wild west coast.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and the neighbouring towns of Tofino and Ucluelet sit at the end of Highway 4 on Vancouver Island’s west coast. Old-growth rainforest runs right to long, surf-pounded beaches. Getting there takes a BC Ferries sailing to the island and a winding mountain highway, so it rewards slow, planned travel.

  • Best season to visit: June–September for beach weather; November–February for storm-watching, with rain.
