How we label Canadian-made

Origin is the hard part of a “buy Canadian” guide, so each maker gets one of three labels based on its own website. These labels describe what the maker says. They are not an audit or an endorsement.

Built in Canada

The maker says it builds here

Its official pages say the vehicles or products are built, manufactured or assembled in Canada. Imported components may still be used.
Selected products

Some products are Canadian-made

The maker states Canadian manufacture for particular products. The claim does not extend to everything in its catalogue.
Confirm the model

Canadian company, origin unconfirmed

A Canadian business, brand or engineering team, but its pages do not confirm that your product is made in Canada. Ask before you buy.

Entries with a headquarters but no confirmed factory, such as importers or multinational brands with Canadian offices, always get the third label.

How to check a “Made in Canada” claim

  1. Read the exact words“Made in Canada”, “Product of Canada”, “designed in Canada” and “Canadian company” mean different things. Designed or owned in Canada says nothing about where it was built.
  2. Look for qualifiersNon-food guidance says “Product of Canada” needs at least 98% Canadian production costs, while “Made in Canada” needs at least 51% plus a statement about imported parts. Expect wording like “with imported components”.
  3. Check the model, not the brandA brand can build one line here and import another. Ask about the exact model, battery, window or hitch you plan to buy.
  4. Find the factoryA named plant, a factory tour or a workshop address is stronger evidence than a flag on a website.
  5. Get it in writingAsk for the origin statement in the quote or on the invoice, and keep the product page you relied on.

Source for the thresholds: the Retail Council of Canada’s summary of the Competition Bureau’s guidance for non-food products. Check the Bureau’s current guidance if a claim matters to a purchase.

Questions to ask a maker or dealer

  • Where is this exact model built, and where are the main components made or sourced?
  • Is the “Made in Canada” claim for the whole vehicle or only some products, and what is imported?
  • Who owns the company today, and who honours the warranty if ownership changes?
  • Which dealers or service centres can repair it near me, and how are parts shipped?
  • Can I visit the factory or workshop, or see the same model in person?
  • What is the warranty, and does it cover work done by an independent shop?
  • How long do replacement parts for this model stay available?

Paused, closed and still being checked

These Canadian names come up often. We keep them off the active list until their status is clear.

Questions about Canadian-made RVs and parts

What does “Made in Canada” actually mean on a product?

For non-food products, the Competition Bureau’s enforcement guidelines, as summarised by the Retail Council of Canada, say an unqualified “Product of Canada” claim needs at least 98% of production costs to be Canadian. A “Made in Canada” claim needs at least 51%, together with a qualifying statement about imported parts. A maker can therefore build in Canada and still use imported components. Ask what is imported.

Is a Canadian company the same as a Canadian-made product?

No. A company can be headquartered in Canada and make a given product elsewhere, or sell products made by partners. That is why this guide uses three labels and tells you when origin has to be confirmed for the exact model.

Does Canadian-built mean Canadian-owned?

Not always. Ownership can change while the factory stays put. Roadtrek, for example, builds in Cambridge, Ontario, and reports a 2026 change of ownership to a U.S.-based group. If ownership matters to you, ask the maker directly.

Why are some well-known companies marked “confirm the model”?

Because their official pages describe a Canadian business, Canadian engineering or Canadian operations without saying every product is made here. We would rather tell you to ask than give a badge we cannot support.

Are Canadian-built RVs better for Canadian winters?

Several makers advertise four-season construction, insulation or fibreglass bodies. Those are the makers’ own claims, so compare the insulation specification, heating system and warranty for the exact model rather than relying on where it was built.

Where can I see a Canadian-built RV in person?

Some makers sell direct, some sell through dealers, and a few offer factory tours or workshop visits by appointment. Use our dealer directory for your province, and check each maker’s website for visits.

Can I buy used Canadian-built parts?

Yes. See our guide to RV salvage and used parts in Canada for suppliers that advertise used components, and ask for the original maker’s part number.

Why is a maker I know missing?

We only list businesses whose official pages we could read and whose Canadian link we could describe. Several are still being checked, and new submissions are welcome.

How this guide is checked

Reviewed October 17, 2026. For each maker we read its official website and recorded what it says about where it builds. Labels reflect those statements only. We have not inspected factories, audited costs or tested products, and companies change owners, plants and product lines, so confirm details with the maker. We list businesses for information and do not endorse any of them.
